“The classic 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Domaine Chante-Perdrix is smoking good in 2016, offering tons of garrigue, seaweed, cracked pepper, and damp earth aromas and flavors. With a darker, earthier slant, medium to full body, a stacked mid-palate, and a great finish, drink it over the coming decade or so. The blend is 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre, and the balance Muscardin, all aged in a mix of foudre and smaller barrels.”

“From a great vintage for Chante Perdrix, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape is a beauty. Ripe cherries and raspberries mingle easily on the nose, picking up hints of smoke and citrus for complexity. The blend is 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre and 5% Muscardin, raised in a combination of foudres, demi-muids and old barrels. Full-bodied, rich and creamy in texture, with a long, silky finish, it should drink well for over a decade.”
