“All Grenache from the lieux-dits of Les Galimardes and Les Serres, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Etienne Pécoul spent nine months in demi-muids, which has given it a subtle sheen of almond paste and baking spices over the layers of ripe raspberry and cherry fruit. Full-bodied, concentrated and creamy in texture, it ratchets up the intensity from the basic cuvée without seeming heavy or overripe. Nicely done.”

“Offering more cedar and spice nuances, yet with a similar core of dark currant and cherry fruits, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Etienne Pécoul (100% Grenache) is concentrated, focused, and tight on the palate, with terrific concentration. It needs a few more years of bottle age but has tons of potential.”
