“All Mourvedre, the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Henri Perges is another ripe, sexy wine from this estate. Black cherries, currants, ground pepper, new leather, and hints of crushed stone all define the nose, and it’s medium to full-bodied, with a ripe, seamless mouthfeel, no hard edges, and a great finish. It’s another impeccably put-together Châteauneuf from this estate offering tons to love.”

“Like the Etienne Pécoul from the same producer, the Mourvèdre-only 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Henri Perges matured for 9 months in demi-muids. It mingles pristine aromas of ripe black cherry, black plum, blueberry, tomato leaf, dried herbs, mint and crushed rocks. Expanding vertically on the palate, this is a multi-dimensional, full-bodied red with plush tannins and lively acidity. The long-lasting finish is outstanding, with new flavors developing long after the wine has left the palate. Tasting this wine right next to the Grenache-only Etienne Pécoul is a real treat.”

Robert Parker: 92 points.
“A more serious, age-worthy effort, the 100% Mourvèdre 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Henri Perges is inky-hued in the glass, with scents of camphor and plum. It’s full-bodied, rich and concentrated but also a bit monolithic at this stage of its development, with a long finish marked by layers of silky tannins. Impressive for its structure, it lacks upfront complexity, but the bet here is that will develop with time in the cellar.”
